Statistical Round-up of Super smash 2019/20
The 15th edition of the Super Smash concluded this past weekend as Wellington Firebirds were crowned Champions of New Zealand for the third time.
The Michael Bracewell led squad lifted their first title in three years after a convincing 22 run win against the Auckland Aces as Devon Conway top-scored with 49 runs while Hamish Bennett and Logan van Beek scalped three wickets each.
It was a double delight for the city of Wellington on Sunday night as earlier in the day, Wellington Blaze secured their second consecutive Women’s Super Smash trophy with a 36 run victory over the Auckland Hearts.
Moreover, the Firebirds were undeniably one of the best teams in the league stages and topped the Super Smash table with 24 points. However, the biggest headline of the tournament was made by Canterbury Kings’ Leo Carter when he became the first Kiwi batsman to smash six sixes in an over in T20 cricket.
