After the Newlands scandal, David Warner’s attitude towards everything has undergone a massive transformation and he has now become more classy in his actions. After playing with the crowd by emptying his pockets in Edgbaston, he now, replied with a thumbs up after a fan called him a cheat.
Ever since his return to the cricket field, David Warner has been channelling his inner sanctity in funny ways. At Edgbaston, he played along with the crowd by emptying his pockets to show that he didn’t have sandpaper, but on Day 3 at Old Trafford, he took his sportiveness to a whole new level.
When the Australian team were heading from the grandstand players’ area at Old Trafford to the field during day three of the fourth Ashes Test, a fan suddenly started yelling at the former Aussie vice-captain, reminding him of his activities in the Cape Town Test for which Warner was banned for a good one year.
“Warner you f***ing cheat,” a spectator was heard yelling at Warner in a video taken from the grandstand.
However, the Aussie opener didn’t take it personally and rather came up with a classy reply to the troll. Many on Twitter also likened to WWE star Ric Flair’s celebration in the ring.
While Warner’s response was pretty good, the same can’t be said about his response to Stuart Broad’s bowling as the New South Welshman has now been dismissed six times to the Englishman in this Ashes. His scores read 2, 8, 3, 5, 61, 0, 0 and 0 – certainly not the numbers one would have expected from him after a path-breaking IPL and World Cup.
With him not performing, it has now become a topic of discussion if he can actually make it to the team for the fifth and final Test at The Oval, that starts on September 12.
